Colorado representatives fight to set a minimum legal age to marry in the state after study reveals 12-year-olds applied for marriage licenses

COLORADO, April 6, 2019 – State representatives in Colorado are fighting to set a minimum legal age for marriage in the state where none currently exists, following the release of a troubling study.

A review of marriage license applications filed in the state over the past two decades showed that an alarming number of minor applicants, some of whom were under the age of 13, according to a memo from research analyst Vanessa Conway.
